Our Philosophy

Australia is rich in creative talent and like a good treasure hunt, the wealth can be found in local communities all over the country.  Some of the finest talent can be heard NOT in the mainstream media but in alternative media, venues, and festivals throughout Australia. Our primary objective for Folk in Broke is to bring some of that abundant creativity to the Upper Hunter and expand the cultural horizons of local communities in this region. To give residents and visitors – whose predominant exposure in the Hunter is to popular/established music – a taste and an appreciation for fresh music and a rich cultural experience.

Our secondary aim is to create greater awareness of the Broke Fordwich region. To encourage more visitors and bring together the enjoyment of good entertainment, good food, and great wine and thus develop a strong economic base for local businesses.
